How we verify giveaways

A listing should help you make a decision before you leave PrizeOtter. Our curation combines source checking with structured records so the same promotion is not presented as several different opportunities.

We start with the current official promotion

Directories and social posts can lead us to a giveaway. Publication depends on supporting sponsor pages or authorized administrators and official rules for the correct edition. A familiar web address is not proof that last year’s dates still apply. Research and summaries may use automated tools; an automated find is not itself verification.

We separate prize value from hype

We record the largest individual prize or package when the source gives an approximate retail value, preserve its currency, and keep the count of top prizes separate. We do not substitute the total pool or manufacture a cash equivalent. Unknown figures stay unknown. The newsletter ranks recorded individual USD values without inventing currency conversions.

We check the restrictions that affect entry

Each published active listing needs a sponsor, official rules, a supported closing time and time zone, reviewed location and age requirements, a no-purchase entry method, and source notes. We retain special restrictions such as membership, profession or differing age thresholds instead of hiding them to improve the match count.

Uncertainty stays visible

Incomplete or conflicting records remain in a review queue. Publication requires a rules check within the preceding 30 days. That is a publication check, not a promise that every live listing is checked continuously. The review date and source notes on each page show what was checked. A profile match cannot confirm every sponsor condition.

Corrections and ended promotions

Past closing times remove promotions from the open catalog. An ended page can remain available so saved checklists and old links still make sense. We retain record history when information changes and preserve the identity of a promotion across updates.
